 Baby BERNICE  BALLAH!!!!

AND A 'CHILD' IS BORN -

            "isn't she lovely"

The Government of Liberia and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have identified the world seventh billion child believed to be born in Liberia.

Brenice , the world's seventh billion person, was named after the Chief Medical Officer of Liberia Doctor Brenice Dahn who represented the Government of Liberia during the identification ceremony at the Redemption Hospital in New Kru Town.

"As you know, the world has reached seven billion today, and in Liberia, we are very proud to present to you the journalists the seventh billion baby born in Redemption Hospital in Liberia," UNFPA Resident Representative Esperance Fundira asserted.

Madam Fundira said she is gratified by the level of work done in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in preventing mothers and babies from dying while given birth, adding that it is intended to reduce maternal mortality.

She stated that UNFPA support to the ministry will continue so as insure that maternal mortality is reduced in Liberia.

Liberia Welcomes

Its Own Symbolic

7 billionth Baby!!!!!!

WE WELCOME YOU TO

LIBERIA & THE WORLD

The world’s population reached 7 billion on October 31, 2011. In Liberia Baby Bernice Ballah, seen here cradled by Esperance Fundira, UNFPA Liberia Representative, is one of many newborns whose arrival brought the world’s population to a historic high. Baby Ballah was born just after midnight at a hospital in Monrovia. In New York, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said: “Today, we welcome baby 7 billion. In doing so we must recognize our moral and pragmatic obligation to do the right thing for him, or for her.”
