what we do & where we are going

LOP was established in 1988 with the mission to advance educational opportunity, human relations, international understanding and brotherhood. We assists other community service groups, service people in need both locally and Internationally.  Our organizational goals are to continue helping in the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and resettlement and relief of Liberians during and after 14 years of brutal civil war (December, 1989 - August 2003).

Henceforth, the FOLNC was established in response to president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s passionate request to the International communities for private investments, humanitarian support as well as International and municipal partnerships in order to help rebuild war-torn Liberia.

To reach this goal, the FOLNC under the auspices of the LOP has begun working fervently to identify and encourage potential investors willing to explore opportunities for investment, to help rebuild, strengthen and sustain the economic structure of Liberia.

We have hosted the annual Miss Africa/African-American Educational Pageant, and look forward to hosting the Community Leaders and Legends Hall of Fame and promoting the Friends of Liberia-North Carolina Commission (FOLNC).
