EDUCATION, CULTURE & FASHION
In 1991, The Miss Africa/African-American Educational Pageant was established. In our effort to include ALL nationalities, we now find it necessary to rename the Pagant as, 'Intercultural Educational' Pageant.
Our goal is to instill a sense of pride and understanding of all history while at the same time, promoting a global 'cultural learning' awareness. We continue to encourage and support young individuals who are in pursuit of academic excellence.
In 2001, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company provided funding for the winners of the pageant to participate in a five-week Wake Forest University Study-Abroad Program in Benin, West Africa.
Scholarship(s): Funds were provided by Dr. Maya Angelou and Wake Forest University Multicultural Affairs Department for winners of first and second place.
