Premier Awards Dinner


On 9/26/09 - LOP celebrated exceptional people at its premier Community Leaders and Legends Hall of Fame awards dinner. 

The event was designed to recognize Community Leaders and Community Legend Award recipients, which culminated with honorees being inducted into the Community Leaders & Legends Hall of Fame.

 

Words of encouragement by:

  • Dr. Ed Wilson, WFU Provost Emeritus and English Professor
  • Mr. Nigel Alston, Motivational Speaker Dale Carnegie Trainer
  • Dr. Charles Ford, Dean of the WSSU School of Arts and Sciences
  • Mr. Keith Grandberry, President and CEO of the Winston-Salem Urban League.


Special performances by:

  • The Othesha Creative Arts Ensemble - provides programs that explore the heritage and culture of African, modern and Jazz dance. 
  • The oldest professional African-American dance company in North Carolina - under the direction of Hashim Saleh, Executive Director and founding musician.

LOP supports programs that helps make a difference in our local community and in Liberia, West Africa. LOP has received endorsements for this program from the City of Winston-Salem and the State of North Carolina.

Awards were presented by LOP Hall of Fame Planning Committee which helps to identify and honor exceptional people whose sacrifices, works and lives serve as role models and positive examples of civic-minded members of  their communities, State and the world.

Location: MC Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
